New York City
New York City is the place we met and has been a supporting character throughout the story of our relationship. We are so excited to welcome you to witness an important milestone in our lives together in the city we love to call home.
The Otto Kahn & James Burden Mansions
The Otto Kahn and James Burden Houses are a neighboring pair of Gilded Age mansions located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, across 5th Avenue from Central Park on E 91st Street.
The Otto Kahn House is a neo-Italian renaissance building designed by architect C.P.H. Gilbert for the Kahn family completed in 1918. The land was purchased from Andrew Carnegie, whose nearby home is now the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. The mansion remained as the home of the Kahn family until 1934.
The James Burden House is a Beaux-Arts style building built for William Douglas Sloane as a wedding gift to his daughter Florence and her husband James Burden. Designed by architects Warren & Wetmore, the mansion remained as the home of the Burden family until 1932 and has hosted many dinners and receptions over its storied history.
Both mansions are now the home of the Convent of the Sacred Heart, a private school for girls, and are designated as historical landmarks by the city, State of New York, and the United States.
